The tour starts with a pick up from your accomodation, on a comfortable van or bus. Then, you’ll travel 30 km – 20 miles – to a completely different geography.
Tigre City is a major tourist destination and weekend getaway, located on the delta of the Paraná river. The Tigre City and its delta are part of the Buenos Aires Province, in the north of “Greater Buenos Aires”.
The area is a year-round tourist destination thanks to its sophisticated dining options, teahouses, and picnic areas.
After reaching Tigre, you’ll board a modern two-deck ferry with an open terrace, for a one hour navigation through the delta. We then will enter a maze-like system of canals and experience a distinct way of life that appears to be worlds apart from the hectic city life. You’ll have free vegan snacks during navigation.
We’ll see plenty of homes built on stilts and witness how locals use floating services, such as the supermarket boat, school boats and water taxi, and how they live on the islands.
Our journey now takes us to the Fruits Market (Mercado de Frutos), an extensive outdoor crafts fair located in the old fruit market by the river.
Here, we’ll find a varied selection of regionally produced goods, including furniture, decorations, cane and wicker accessories, souvenirs of all kinds, delectable candies, homemade jam and honey, flowers, a variety of local fruit, and different eateries and stores with vegan options.
The major chains of restaurants and coffee shops have set up shop here in recent years, expanding the offerings of this historic fair.
The tour finally visits a curated selected vegan restaurant with a variety of vegan meals, desserts and different beverages, in a comfy and friendly space.
Vegan venues and services in Tigre don’t stop growing in number. From 2016, Tigre City government has implemented programs to encourage the inclusion of vegan options in the local food scene.
The “Tigre Vegan Menu” initiative seeks to empower establishments to add vegan dishes to their menus, thereby demonstrating an interest in vegan offerings.
