Where is Tigre City and its Delta located?
Tigre City is situated on the Paraná river’s Delta and serves as a significant attraction for tourists and weekend visitors. The city is located in the Buenos Aires Province, situated in the north of Greater Buenos Aires, 30 km or 20 miles north of Buenos Aires city.
What is the itinerary for the Tigre Delta trip?
Once we arrive in Tigre, you’ll embark on a modern two-decks ferry for one-hour journey across the argentine delta, entering a labyrinth network of canals and discovering a unique way of life that seems a world away from frenetic city life.
We’ll witness how residents live on the islands and engage with floating services: the supermarket boat, water taxi, and others. We will also find houses constructed on stilts, along with the former President Sarmiento’s residence and museum.
The tour then heads to the Fruits Market (Mercado de Frutos), a famous open air crafts fair situated in the historic fruit market by the riverbank.
Here, we will discover a diverse variety of local goods made with materials from the region, such as furniture, decorations, cane and wicker accessories, all kind of souvenirs, delicious sweets and homemade jam and honey, a wide variety of flowers and, still, a wide range of local fruit.
In the last years, the main coffee stores and restaurant chains have established here, adding more services to this old fair.
What are the main attractions in Tigre Delta?
Main attractions, apart from the navigation through the Delta, are the Fruits Market Fair, the modern Casino, the amusement park Parque de la Costa, water sport activities, and also a museum dedicated to mate, the country’s traditional drink.
